Guess we have to see the show before we can really see what is what.
At least Faile is trying to push things abit.
It seems like they could always do another Bunny Boy or something like that.
I mean Faile is supposed to grow right and try to explore new things as artists?
Remember the Baltic show? Don't get the whole old brand thing. This is their work. They are pushing it.

Just pulling from Juxtapoz.

"Lost in Glimmering Shadows features a new series of paintings and sculptures, which explore an ambivalent attitude to the hypermodern culture of today’s USA. As well as incorporating images and texts from the chaos of the modern urban landscape, the works use imagery, stories and patterns from Native American Indian culture. A metaphor of sorts emerges in this juxtaposition; the expanse of contemporary commercialism at the expense of society's connection with nature and spirit. Quite timely, given today’s economic downturn.
Growing up in the southwestern U.S. exposed Faile to Native American culture from an early age. The area is steeped in history and examples are evident throughout the surrounding land and reservations. A recent trip back to the southwest inspired Faile to create this new series of works that highlight the amazing depth of this vanishing culture."

Seems like there is something going on here.
And cmon a swastika?! Almost every culture has had a symbol that bears resemblance going back 10,000 years.
Who knows what the new show will be like for sure, just have to say after being a Faile fan for many years, I think something great is around the corner. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm right. Good debate anyway.
PS. post alot of pics, wife won't let me make the trip:(

I think the new work is clearly second rate.
American Indians urban?
Since when?
Get serious, this is sheer nonsense
It's nothing short of exploiting an old brand that no longer exists and trying to wow everyone with the sheer physical size of the new work.
I suppose the calculation is most of us are sheep who unable to see things as they really are.
I'm I being too harsh?
Not when someone puts a price tag of more then a hundred grand on their work I'm not.

Agreed, you guys are being civil and constructive. I just wanted to give a preemptive note to keep this from ever becoming personal knocks towards Aiko or the two Patricks. Your opinions on the past, present, future of the "artists formerly known as Alife" is really open game, but personal attacks is what I was hoping to keep this from becoming.

On a personal note, I've loved their works in the past. I'm a little old fashioned when it comes to artist and their works... I don't always embrace change, so that doesn't always make me the right critic for the job, hence that's why I stick with presenting the facts on AM and let you guys do the heavy lifting. As for their new stuff... I'm reserving judgment till I see the whole show. (Hoping to get a few more images for you guys soon)

Faile surely died with the departure of Aiko and these images show that.
Bunny Girl, Butterfly Girl, FHead, Smoking Silence, Agony all the way and am glad my collection is based on their old work.
Nice to see something newish, but disapointing nevertheless.
Something has gone but let us see in 5 years time where they are at.
