The Merry Karnowsky Gallery in LA will be hosting a fundraising event the evening of Oct. 1 to benefit Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. The event will include an art show featuring works by The Clayton Brothers, Camille Rose Garcia, Seonna Hong and others. Masakatsu Sashie‘s show “Under Fluorescent Light” opened last Saturday at GR2 on the west side. As usual, his detailed spheres encompassing urban elements (buildings, vending machines, air conditioners, television sets) were quite eye-catching. It’s as if his so-called “orb paintings” shrunk the ingredients of city living into a compact package for consumption. Because we are young collectors, we haven’t had much opportunities to watch an artist’s career blossom from the very beginnings. Emerging artist Tin is one of those happy exceptions and we have been following his rapidly ascending career with much interest. Here’s his latest painting that he posted on his blog today. The second annual Baby Tattooville is fast approaching (October 3-5). This unique event, billed as a “limited edition retreat for artists & collectors,” has grown on us and Arrested Motion will be on hand to cover the event. Many have waited with baited breath for the first photos from Audrey Kawasaki’s first solo show out of the States to appear on the net. She finally had a chance to upload show photos from Mondo Bizzarro (Italy) onto her blog yesterday. For a couple weeks, the only image available was her next to her showstopper “Two Sisters” that had been floating around on flickr.
