Crome

This past weekend, we were invited to check out a very special project going on at the rooftop of  Gawker Headquarters. The project “Mom & Popism” is a unique collaboration between Gawker Artists and Jim & Karla Murray (concieved/curated by Billi Kid) to remix some of the iconic NYC cityscape as seen in the book – “Store Front – The Disappearing Face of New York.” The goal is to blow up the classic storefronts that defined many parts of NYC in quasi-life scale on the rooftop outdoor location, then redone with the help of a select group of street artists.

The weather was hot and sunny, then wet and crazy, but that didn’t deter the gang from creating this mini-urban wonderscape. We caught Crome, Shiro, Lady Pink, Matt Siren, Blanco, Ticky, Cake, Cern, David Cooper, Zoltron and a few others in action with their spray nozzles blazing in anticipation for what is to be a wondrous show that opens to the public at the roof of Gawker Headquarters August 15th (noon-4pm). Definitely keep your eyes on Gawker Artists and AM for continuing exclusive coverage.

Check out all the detailed shots from the busy weekend after the jump.
