Previews: Sickboy – ‘Burning Desire’ @ Yellowpants Gallery Lisbon

If temples and typography set your world on fire, then Sickboy’s upcoming exhibition should be right up your street. Burning Desire opens this Thursday 3rd February in Lisbon. Presented by Yellowpants Gallery, we hear that the Sickboy has been in town since last weekend, so expect some heavy installation work from him. Some more preview flicks after the jump.

Teaser: “New Moon” @ Myplasticheart

On February 11th, about a week after Chinese new year, myplasticheart in New York will open their doors to New Moon, a group exhibition featuring reinterpretations of the Chinese zodiac. Artists like Amy Sol (interviewed) had many choices (she chose the dragon), considering that there are twelve animals in all – rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. Teaser: Mark Dean Veca C.O.L.A. Fellowship Exhibition

Oh Yeah!  Here is a little teaser for the upcoming C.O.L.A. Fellowship exhibition in May at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. Each year the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) awards Individual Artist Fellowships to thirteen exemplary midcareer visual, performing and literary artists and our friend Mark Dean Veca’s (interviewed) was chosen as one of the recipients. Streets: Phlegm (Rotherham)

UK street artist Phlegm recently painted this new piece, Whale of a Time, at the Riverside car park in Rotherham. Already damaged by the rain, the mural will be replaced in about a month and he also plans to paint a giant squid and another boat. More views after the jump…

Teaser: POW WOW (Hawaii)

Coming up in February, after it’s debut in Hong Kong last year, the second annual POW WOW will make it’s appearance in Hawaii.
