Video: RETNA x Vistajet Project

A notable artist missing from the Street Cred opening at the PMCA last weekend was street calligraphist RETNA (featured).  All the more curious as he was arguably the most visible participant seeing that he painted the entire facade of the museum. Streets: Eric Haze x Standard Hotel (Los Angeles)

NY graf legend Eric Haze recently flew out to Los Angeles to participate in the MOCA’s Art in the Streets exhibition, but being the busy bee he always is, he also took some time to put up some street work in the City of Angels. Preview: Kris Lewis @ David B. Smith Gallery

Tomorrow night in Denver, Kris Lewis (interviewed) returns to David B. Smith Gallery with a striking new body of work after a successful showing there in 2009.  The new collection of oil paintings feature his detailed renditions of mostly female characters all while focusing on capturing the emotional essence of each portrait. Outdoor/Streets: “Street a.k.a. Museum” @ Portsmouth Museum of Art – New Hampshire

In yet another example of street art and graffiti’s acceptance and proliferation in fine art institutions across America, the Portsmouth Museum of Art hosts Street a.k.a. Museum, curated by LeBasse Projects’ Beau LeBasse. The exhibition, which opened on May 11 and runs until Sept. 11 features familiar names: Bumblebee, Herakut (fresh off their beautification of Los Angeles), Shark Toof, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, and Andreas von Chrzanowski.
