This week, our Art Focus is on Philadelphia-based Matthew Cox, whose series of medical x-rays and embroidery recently caught our eyes. The Parsons and Otis trained artist has taken radiographs and stitched back in his imagined content partially over the skeletal elements leading to an intriguing new mesh of reality and the imaginary. For those interested, Embroidered X-Rays will be showing at the Packer/Schopf Gallery (Booth E-407) this year at PULSE in Miami, part of Art Basel Week.

This particular series of works is just one third of Cox’s creative output.  He also does the traditional paintings and drawings as well as creates rubber stamp pieces.  See more of this in the video after the jump as well as more x-ray works.
