After a showing at the LE Gallery in 2010 (covered), Canadian artist Tristram Lansdowne (interviewed) returns to the Toronto showspace for another solo come October 5th. Consisting of about ten watercolours, five new etching editions, and a sculpture, the new body of work is entitled Fata Morgana (defined as an unusual and complex form of superior mirage that is seen in a narrow band right above the horizon). Lansdowne’s work certainly can be described as such seeing how his intricate explorations of landscape and architecture are rendered in impossibly complicated formations. This new body of work also sees him move from his urban roots to a more geological and botanical frames of reference, so it will be interesting to see how things play out.
