On May 7th, the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery will be opening up The Wrinkles of the City, Havana, Cuba, a collaborative showing between JR and José Parlá. Featuring twelve large portraits and a site specific installation, the exhibition will showcase works that were put up by the two friends during their time in Cuba (covered) for JR’s continuing project of photographing senior citizens and pasting their portraits on the walls of city buildings. These pieces were then covered with Parlá’s urban calligraphy leading to an epic result that may have been one of the best joint efforts by two artists in recent memory. Now, New Yorkers will have a chance to see it for themselves…
