Hailing from New York, Julia Chiang immerses the Midwest this fall with her work via Kansas City’s Bill Brady Gallery. Upon entry to the showspace, you are welcomed by several large “burst” paintings (seen in our studio visit) drawing you directly into the voided spaces within them. Chiang also shows off some new pieces consisting of large scale “fence” paintings alongside her more familiar glazed ceramic “drops” surrounding the space like altars. Julia keeps your attention and eyes confused with “A Word, Your Word #1,2” where she asks the audience to contribute one word that came to mind. This beautifully curated exhibition is only open for a few more days. If you are in the Kansas City area make sure you check it out.
