Jacob Hashimoto’s Gas Giant will be on view at MOCA Pacific Design Center from March 1 to June 8, but we were able to visit (courtesy of Martha Otero) the artist and his crew as they were on day 6 of putting up the massive 2-floor installation. The entire piece will take about one month to set up and will be Hashimoto’s first solo museum exhibition in California. Boxes and boxes of the artist’s signature paper and wood kites and tons of string and wire were sitting around waiting to be painstakingly hung with care. The finished product will be a one of a kind visual and experiential treat – in the meantime though, check out these images.
