Italian artist Zed 1 recently opened a solo show at the Galo Art Gallery in Turin, Italy, that will be on view until 19th of April. The artist whose recognizable murals adorn walls from Amsterdam to NYC prepared a whole new body of work for Frutti Della Mente (Fruits of the Mind). Using found objects, painting on old windows, doors, scrap wood, and even collage of old posters, the composition and color palette is often defined by the shape, color or texture of the surface he is working on. The combination of vintage objects and his humanoid characters, gives his work exceptional warmth and sentiment. For this exhibition, he created works in oil, pencil, spray paint, acrylic, while painting on everything from paper to glass. While playful and cheerful at first sight, his surrealistic imagery often carry a subtle comment addressing political or social issues and this element raises the quality and richness of his works.

Along with introducing new paintings, Marco Buressi (Zed 1) also created a new piece from his Second Skin series in the space of the gallery. These works combine painting and paste ups, giving his works life, and allowing them to evolve and change in time by losing their layers & “skin,” which the visitors of his opening experienced first hand.
