We recently got these nice photos from Nils Müller, showing German artist and muralist, Hendrik “ECB” Beikirch, working in his studio on a new body of work for his solo exhibition at Galerie Wolfsen in Denmark. Opening on May 8, the show titled, MONOCHROME MATTERS: Harbor, Track and Road Junction Faces, continues the artist’s quest of highly poetic portraits depicting people from the immediate neighborhoods in which they live and gravitate. After painting portraits of random people he met on his travels for his last show in Germany (covered), this time he is portraying people he met or saw at harbors, tracks and road junctions. “Strange yet familiar at the same time, each of these faces and portraits gives these people an iconic status,” while still leaving them completely unknown and anonymous. By painting these kind of portraits, the German artist is creating “a tribute to anyone and no one.”
