The Coastal Currents Festival of Visual Arts in Hastings in the South East of England, recently hosted new work from Kate MccGwire. Known for her sculptural works created from feathers, the British artist elected to create two site-specific installation pieces – Secrete (seen above) and Purge. Housed in the crypt of St Mary in the Castle, the subterranean environment was a dramatic setting for  MccGwire’s new undulating forms. She states that she was “initially inspired by the the steady flow of natural spring water that seeps into the building of mary in the castle, which used to be the water source for the fully immersive baptismal tanks within the building.”
