On February 13th (private view on the 12th), the postponed show that we mentioned last year from Antony Micallef will open at Lazarides Rathbone. Now entitled Self, the exhibition will be the first from talented painter with the London showspace since 2012. The new body of work turns his artistic focus on himself with a series of self portraits, something he has done for the last 20 years but it seems never so visceral and honest.

Micallef further states – “I’m trying to create a sensual body that emanates a soul or some kind of embodiment of human emotion. I want to say it all with the actual medium this time without illustrating it. I wanted the luscious density of the paint itself to describe the feeling without narrating it.”
