Currently at Gladstone Gallery in New York at their 21st Street location, a show entitled the sun at 4pm is on view, the latest solo from Ugo Rondinone. The part for the exhibition that may be of interest to our readers are the indoor sculptures that mirror his Seven Magic Mountains installation currently on display on the outskirts of Las Vegas (covered). These vibrant multicolored balanced rock formations from the Swiss artist are what comprises the “mountain” portion of his “mountain, sun, waterfall, and cloud” series of works included in this showing. The “sun” can be seen in the background created out of branches cast in aluminum and then gilded, while the “waterfall” is spiraling sculpture alongside “cloud” canvases.
