After the first showing of Slang Aesthetics! in Los Angeles (covered), the traveling retrospective of Robert Williams’ career has since made a stop in June of last year at the Art Museum of Sonoma County. Now starting on September 23rd, fans of the father of lowbrow art in Sante Fe will be able to enjoy the first-ever solo in New Mexico of the Albuquerque-born and raised artist at the Center for Contemporary Arts. As with previous showings, the exhibition will include over 60 drawings and paintings from 1995-present, highlights from his days at Zap Comix, as well as large sculptural renditions of his imagery. If you are interested, take a look at our photos from LA to get an idea of what to expect.
