Few things remind us of summer in America more than surfing and Southern California, specifically, Malibu. When you combine those two things with art, you have a fantastic timely mix for a warm weather exhibition.

DEPART Foundation presents Sea Sick in Paradise, a group show curated by Amy Yao.  The exhibition features works in a variety of media by 44 artists (including Barry McGee and Margaret Kilgallen), many of whom are surfers themselves or inspired by surfing, the ocean, and coastal culture. Showing in context with these visual artists’ works are also pieces by professional surfers, inspired by their sport to create. The super cool Californian show will occupy a new, 4,000 square foot pop-up venue in Malibu Village and will include additional programming as well, related to surfing and the environment.

It all opens with a huge party on July 8, from 6-9pm. Check here for a lot more information.
