Tonight in New York, P·P·O·W will be hosting the opening of a new solo from Erin M. Riley (interviewed) entitled Used Tape. Continuing to tackle issues that have become even more timely in this #metoo era, the Brooklyn-based artist uses her weaving skills to depict imagery that pushing the boundaries of the traditional medium. Riley’s large scale tapestries deal with deeply personal subject matter such as the “difficulty of womanhood, objectification of the female body, and traumas both large and small that weigh the search for self identity.”
