Showing: Lucas Price – “Dumb Poetry” @ Lazarides

On 1the 4th of August, Lazarides Rathbone gallery officially opened a major solo exhibition by Lucas Price aka Cyclops entitled Dumb Poetry. Both artist and the gallery used his debut appearance at this space to put together an impressive, coherent show. In his last show with Lazarides (covered), Price was mostly showing his portraiture work. This time however, he decided to present his version of still life works, a direction he hinted at last time. Both through sculptures, installation and oils, the new body of work features recurring images […]

Previews: Lucas Price – “Dumb Poetry” @ Lazarides Rathbone

After showing at The Outsiders back in 2013 (covered), Lucas Price aka Cyclops will mark his Lazarides Rathbone debut with a solo exhibition entitled Dumb Poetry. The artist, whose career started with graffiti experiments, and who then evolved into one of the most prolific street artists in London, is currently focused on his fine art where he combines his previous influences through contemporary photorealism. While the previous show was based on Baroque-era portraiture, the new works deconstruct traditional still life. From an unusual choice of motifs to unexpected compositions and […]

Previews: Lucas Price – ‘T.E.A.M. Atlas’ @ Rove Gallery

Expect more pleasant surprises from Lucas Price as his latest body of work is about to be revealed in solo show T.E.A.M. Atlas (an acronym for The Earth As My Atlas). Lucas continues his exploration of cataloguing ephemera within his work, but this time it appears that the work is all rendered or drawn rather than collaged. Rove Gallery in Hoxton Square play host to this latest collection of works comprised of new oil paintings and carbon / graphite drawings. Lucas sent us some images of the […]

Openings: Lucas Price – ‘The Friends of Tony Romanoff’ @ Pure Evil Gallery

It was said that The Friends of Tony Romanoff was to be curated by Lucas Price, but the intriguing press release we read for this show was so ambiguous that AM didn’t quite know what to expect. The exhibition, which opened last Thursday, as we kind of expected, turned out to be a collection of new work authored solely by Lucas. Pure Evil Gallery played host to the exhibition, which was a refreshing change to see Lucas’ more contemporary side emerging, based around mixed media […]

Studio Visit: Lucas Price

Lucas Price seems to be an artist in an ever changing state of evolution. His last major UK solo show Jesus Help Me Find My Proper Place suggested a level of confusion within its title – the work exhibited was produced in a variety of styles in an almost perfect allegory for his life as a fine artist under his own name, and also his street bombing alter ego of Cyclops. The work in the accomplished exhibition suggested that the artist had been in a […]

Studio Visits / Interviews: Rowdy

Rowdy is perhaps best known for his crocodiles, which stalk the urban landscape with a quiet menace, and his cast of other characters which abound with abrasive energy. But the Bristol-based artist’s abstract landscapes, which can be read as both highly political but also deeply personal, represent a far more reflective and contemplative side to his work. An entire building is depicted by an individual mark such as the smudge of a fingerprint, the stroke of a paintbrush or the squirt from a spray-can and […]

After a successful launch and donations by many artists from around the globe, the project seems to be growing bigger and better by the day. Adding new works on daily basis, they recently successfully auctioned works by artists like Sandra Chevrier, Isaac Cordal, Fintan Mage, Martin Whatson, and Fintan Switzer. We just wanted to give you a quick update and a reminder that all the proceeds from the sales will be forwarded to the Are You Syrious? humanitarian initiative […]

Introducing: solidARTy.org

The refugee crisis in Europe is getting bigger by the day and the unsettling images of people walking across the continent in hopes of a new life are putting our humanity to the test. While some artists are producing engaging work commenting on the poor handling of the situation by institutions and certain governments, there are different kind of charities and fundraising projects trying to help the situation. One of the most recent one is solidARTy.org, an online art auction website where street and urban art lovers can […]
