Previews: Branded Arts Group Exhibition @ TCL Chinese Theatre

This Saturday night (October 25th, 6:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m), Branded Arts will be putting on their biggest event yet at the world famous TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Featuring a group exhibition along with a DJ set by Talib Kweli, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services. Streets: D*Face / Branded Arts (Los Angeles)

Before leaving Los Angeles, UK native D*Face (interviewed) decided to create one more mural for his fans to add to the piece (covered) on the side of the building that that housed his popup show (covered). Mirroring one of the originals that was featured in his exhibition, the new image shows one of his characters looking into the rear-view mirror as he’s driving down a lonely stretch of road. Opening tonight at 7 pm (with a The Morning After – Santa Monica print release from Nick Walker) is the Branded Arts x Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica Benefit (1238 Lincoln Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90404). Streets: Nick Walker x Branded Arts (Los Angeles)

While in town for our City of Fire exhibition, Nick Walker (interviewed) also found time to paint a mural for the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Monica. Commissioned by Branded Arts, the project brought a little flavor from across the pond to the West Side as Walker painted and stenciled one of his vandal characters unleashing a butterfly. Streets: Vhils x Retna (Los Angeles)

Following a collaborative wall with Shepard Fairey (covered) while in Los Angeles for his solo show (covered) a couple week ago, Vhils recently created another mural with a high profile artist. The latest piece (with support from Branded Arts) features one of the Portuguese artist’s signature chiseled portraits surrounded by RETNA’s (featured) instantly recognizable urban script. Last July, when Shepard Fairey (featured) held an exhibition at Underdogs in Lisbon, of which Vhils (interviewed) is a cofounder, the two got together for a sweet collaborative mural (covered). On May 28th, Thinkspace Gallery opened a new solo show by Favio Martinez aka Curiot, along with solo shows by James Bullough and UR New York.
