Studio Visits: Jen Stark – ‘Vortextural’ @ Cooper Cole

AM recently had the pleasure to visit the studio of multi-disciplinary artist Jen Stark as she prepares for her debut solo show in Canada tonight (6-10 pm) with Cooper Cole in Toronto. The LA-based artist’s process is meticulous and her studio is very well organized with numerous projects coming to life simultaneously. Instantly recognizable as her own, Stark’s work is rich in color theory and draws heavily from her interest in mathematics, deep space and the natural world. Take a glimpse below at her new […]

The year is going by fast – it’s already the middle of March. As usual, there are many interesting art openings to get out to this weekend including a show from Miss Van in France. Make sure you take a look at more studio shots from our friends over at Hi-Fructose. More recommended shows after the jump…

The dog days of August come to an end this week as the art machine prepares to kick back into full gear come next week with the official start of the fall art season. Highlights: Recommended Openings (Aug 19 – 21)

Bit of a slow weekend as the dog days of August come to an end soon and the art world gears back up for things this coming September. By far, the big event leading the charge is BAST’s return to London at Lazarides. I just saw the preview and BAST has taken things up a notch with hand-painted acrylic works on canvas playing off his mixed-media collage style as well as some beautiful sculptural wall pieces. If in London this week, don’t miss it! More […]
