Highlights: Recommended Openings For July 23-29

Many openings to recommend this week and if you’ll notice, there is a large chunk of our calendar devoted to SDCC as there are many art-related events at the “nerd prom” in San Diego this week. One of our favorite images though (seen above) is from Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) as she opens her two person show with Eric Fortune (interview to follow soon) this Friday at Roq La Rue. Take a look at all the recommended openings after the jump…

Preview/Setup: Clayton Brothers @ Patrick Painter

AM just got back from a lil’ visit to the Patrick Painter galleries in Santa Monica to take in the work of the Clayton Brothers (studio visit). The new shows look amazing. The larger works were being photographed when we popped through, so we offer up a nice lil’ view of the other gallery which showcases the smaller works. The larger works are just breathtaking. Look for more on those and the opening night to be posted here soon. More photos after the jump…

Studio Visits: The Clayton Brothers

AM had a chance to visit the studio of the Clayton Brothers a couple weeks back as they prepared for their first major show in Los Angeles in six years. This will be their first major collection of works in Los Angeles since they rocked La Luz De Jesus back in 2003 with their epic “Six Foot Eleven” show. We still remember how blown away we were by that show. Simply epic in every sense of the word. For those that missed that one, do […]

Preview/Setup: EINE – “The A – Z of Change” @ Carmichael Gallery

AM swung by the Carmichael Gallery in West Hollywood today to meet the legendary UK street artist EINE. It was a pleasure meeting the man behind so many amazing street pieces the world over. We hung out for about 30 minutes, catching up with the artist, the staff and snapping some shots to share with you all – all after the jump…

Openings: David Ellis – “Constant Flow” @ New Image Art

AM had the chance to swing through New Image Art on the opening night of “Constant Flow” – the new solo show from Barnstormers member David Ellis. The show comes down this weekend, so we apologize for the lag in posting, it’s just been a busy month that’s been packed with shows, but Ellis killed it and the show is most definitely worth checking out if you have the chance. More pics and a recap on the show after the jump.
