Recap: Bonhams Contemporary Urban Art Panel

Last night, AM had the opportunity to attend a very special event held by Bonhams LA. A unique panel of speakers from different corners of the Urban art genre gathered to discuss the state of the Urban art market and the economics/dynamics of today’s art marketplace. On November 6th, Greg “Craola” Simkins will open the second and final part of his bi-coastal show at Gallery 1988 in LA. On Wednesday Nov. 5th, Bonhams (Los Angeles) will be holding a very special panel to discuss the Contemporary Urban art market. This panel will include Shepard Fairey (artist), Charming Baker (artist), Jon Reis (Filmmaker), Shana Nys Dambrot (Art Critic/Editor), and Cindy Cronk (Modern Art auction house specialist). With the DJ spinning and the hipsters of Williamsburg crowded about on Friday night, Ad Hoc Art opened their new show “In Language of Angels”. The six artist show was a nice compliment to the diverse Brooklyn crowd. Seen in the exhibit were: the Manga-esqe Camilla d’Errico, the bold Lisa Alisa, the entrancing Sarah Joncas, the embroidery laced layouts of Simone Maynard, the digitally detailed Mijn Schatje, and the dynamic illustrations of MIA. Shepard Fairey x Barack Obama: Vote print

We have confirmed that the new Obama ”VOTE“ image which Shepard Fairey and AM premiered in DC will indeed be made into an official print to be sold on Barack Obama’s website! It should drop in the weeks prior to the election, so keep your eyes on the site. The edition size will be 5000 and should have a $70 price point. This will be Shepard’s 2nd print in the “Artists for Obama” product line.
