Openings: Art Nerd New York – “George Hearts Maria” @ Helium Cowboy

Our friends at Art Nerd New York recently invaded Hamburg, Germany for a special group show at Helium Cowboy. The exhibition entitled George Hearts Maria is themed around the tale of forbidden romance between the Prince George of Wales and commoner Maria Fitzherbert. While separated, they each had miniature eyes (of each other) painted so they could stare at them without getting caught by the royal family. Artists such as Allison Sommers, Beau Stannton, Ian Kuali’i, Jon Burgerman, Molly Crabapple, Ryan Brennan, Zac Braun and […]

Openings: Futura – “Future-Shock” @ Valmorbida (NYC)

Last week, AM attended the much anticipated opening of Futura’s show presented in conjunction with Valmorbida. Boldly kicking off the art season and fashion week, the graffiti legend held nothing back as he presented a showing that was a true tour de force. As previewed in our exclusive behind the scenes look at the exhibition […]

Preview / Setup: Futura – “Future-Shock” @ Valmorbida (NYC)

As promised, AM visited Futura for a behind the scene’s look at upcoming his monster show in New York City. Presented in the same pop-up location in the meat-packing district at which Andy Valmorbida previously exhibited Retna, this massive body of work entitled Future-Shock is a proper homecoming for the New York graffiti legend. Something seemed a little different from our previous interactions with Mr. McGurr though. Perhaps this body of work may have driven him into another gear. Deliberation and focus were the words that […]
