Openings: Anthony Lister – “Hurt People Hurt People” @ Lazarides Rathbone

Despite being recently arrested and charged for graffiti in his home city of Brisbane, Australian artist Anthony Lister made it through to the UK for his new solo show entitled Hurt People Hurt People at Lazarides Rathbone in London. Howard Griffin Gallery is currently presenting an exhibition and sculptural installation by Giacomo Bufarini a.k.a. RUN entitled Parabola di G. Showing: Vhils – “Vestiges” @ Magda Danysz (Paris)

Portugese artist Vhils recently opened a new solo show at Galerie Magda Danysz in Paris. Entitled Vestiges, the exhibition showcases his various unique techniques in which he engraves portraits and abstract patterns onto cork, metal, wood and paper. Using these techniques, Vhils continues to explore the ideas of destruction and creation within urban environments and the collective memory of city inhabitants. Check out images from the show below. Highlights: Frieze Art Fair (London)

One of the leading international contemporary art fairs, Frieze London, returned to the heart of the UK’s capital, London’s Regent’s Park, for its 12th edition. This year’s event brings together 162 of the world’s top contemporary galleries to the UK and features exhibitors from 25 countries. Showing: Frieze Sculpture Park (London)

Along with the launch of Frieze Art Week in London was the opening of the Frieze Sculpture Park, curated by Clare Lilley, Director of Programme at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Openings: Ludo – ‘The Chaos Theory’ @ Lazarides Rathbone

Following our recent studio visit, AM attended the opening for the solo exhibition of Ludo (interviewed) entitled The Chaos Theory at Lazarides Rathbone. Live butterflies were fluttering during the event in London, much to the delight of onlookers. Inspired by the theory of “The Butterfly Effect,” the French artist decided to focus on a more personal interpretation of his cultural inspirations with a selection of neon green and monochrome canvases. Following his group shows in the US and recent installation at the Toulouse Museum in France, we visited the cabinet of curiosities of lowbrow artist 100taur in Toulouse ahead of his upcoming solo show ‘Monsters in my closet’ at the Artoyz gallery in Paris. We popped by the studio of Ludo (interviewed) in Paris as he prepares for his London solo show The Chaos Theory at Lazarides Rathbone. Using his trademark neon green and monochromatic palette, the Frenchman’s new body of work illustrates themes of chaos, through a battalion of futuristic mechanical butterflies.
