Openings: Andy Kehoe – “Into The Depths” @ Thinkspace

Last weekend, the Andy Kehoe unveiled a new selection of work featuring a new technique of layering his paintings with resin (and even some local flora). Despite the use of a new medium, Into The Depths at Thinkspace Gallery still highlights the reasons why the Pittsburgh-based painter is popular with his fans – autumnal imagery and colors, mysterious characters, and imaginative backgrounds. Streets: CYRCLE. – “Beautiful Disaster” (Los Angeles)

Recently, we saw CYRCLE. at our City Of Fire exhibition (covered) where they showed an interactive piece that had the crowd mesmerized by its spinning panels. Now, they are back on the streets and before last week’s holiday hit, they painted a mural named Beautiful Disaster, which is a continuation of their Cut It Out series which began last year with a wall featuring a flower gun. Recently, the Merry Karnowsky gallery presented new artwork by Edward Walton Wilcox. Titled Though You Slay Me, the show featured a number of oil paintings which focused on Wilcox’s use of the chiaroscuro effect to create a series of gloomy portraits and environments. Also on display were a collection of sketches which incorporate his style and technique but in a different size and format. Over the weekend, Known Gallery presented a solo exhibition by artist Augustine Kofie (featured). Titled Working An Angle, this new collection of artwork continues to show the great craftsmanship and style that Kofie continues to perfect. Last week, Known Gallery presented the exhibition titled Sketchy M%#herfuckers featuring artwork by 7th Letter writer RIME and artist KC which showed currently with Dabs Myla’s Break Night Lovers (covered). This past weekend, MOCA presented Rebel, an exhibition conceived by James Franco and also including Douglas Gordon, Harmony Korine, Damon McCarthy, Paul McCarthy, Terry Richardson, Ed Ruscha, and Aaron Young.
