Mier Gallery in West Hollywood is currently showing the first solo exhibition of Los Angeles-based artist Louise Bonnet. The exhibition simply titled Paintings opened on April 23rd and will stay on view through June 4th. The show includes six large paintings and several drawings on paper showing Bonnet’s recognizable visual language and imagery. Her cartoon-like characters with no facial expressions feature exaggerated proportions of body parts that instead convey feelings of melancholy, nostalgia, and displacement. Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne, Germany is currently showing I can’t look at your face anymore, a solo by Pieter Janssen aka Parra. For his second exhibition with the gallery, the Dutch artist, illustrator and designer created an all new body of work consisting of canvases, sculptures and objects. After returning from an inspiring trip to Jordan (covered), Pejac spent the last couple days finalizing his upcoming print release, Wound. Showing an ice breaker leaving a bloody scar as it roams the frozen ocean, it’s one of the works by the Spanish artist that speaks to major environmental issues. Through a minimalist approach, using a limited color palette and lots of negative space to accent the message, Pejac created an emotive image that speaks volumes. Streets: Saner (Morocco)

Along with with 23 other artisst, Saner was recently in Rabat, participating in the local Jidar Urban Art Festival. During his visit, the Mexican artist painted a vibrant figurative mural on the streets of Morocco’s capital. Known for works that are strongly inspired by the Latin and South American tradition and history, Saner modified one of his familiar characters to fit the new environment. On May 7th, Athen B. Gallery will host a pop-up solo by Axel Void. Titled Nobody, the exhibition will open at 222 Broadway St. in Downtown Oakland at 7pm. The Miami-born artist, whose real name is Alejandro Hugo Dorda Meys has been known for dark, often figurative works that mixes text, classical painting and drawing. On the 30th of April, Blain|Southern in Berlin officially opened Harland Miller’s show Tonight We Make History (P.S. I Can’t Be There). As previously announced, his first solo in Germany included an all new body of work that incorporate his own designs, as well as a selection of the classic pieces from the infamous Penguin Books series. After recently creating new works in the Al-Hussein Palestinian refugee camp in Amman, Jordan (covered), Pejac continued travelling around Arab kingdom while creating more refugee focused works. Reviewed here are the pieces the Spanish artist painted in Azraq Camp and on the streets of Amman.
