Releases: New JR App and Digital Book

French photographer  JR recently released a new app (completely free) for the iPad detailing his many projects. Features include many photos and videos based on a map as well as exclusive interactive functions that give you a closer look at the street artist’s work. As an added bonus for those interested, JR’s first book, The Wrinkles of The City, Los Angeles can be purchased as well. Discuss JR here.

For those following news from the Sheffield-based Phlegm, you will know that he has been feverishly working on finishing up his new book. Teaser: Greg Simkins – “Stop Haunting Me” @ Merry Karnowsky Gallery

On April 6th, the Merry Karnowsky in Los Angeles (also see 2012) will be hosting a new solo show from the locally based Greg Simkins (featured). Known as Craola to his legion of fans, the surrealist painter will be unleashing fresh new works collectively entitled Stop Haunting Me, a celebration of the 20th anniversary of his moniker. Streets: D*Face (Puerto Rico)

We haven’t brought you an in-depth focus on D*Face’s (interviewed) since his Berlin wall project in Los Angeles (covered), so here is a look at some new street work. D and his crew were recently in Puerto Rico where he finished a large mural featuring his his Lichtenstein-inspired imagery as well as classic D*Face charaters, some deconstructed. Brooklyn street duo Faile is releasing a new print today entitled Sweet Sins through a lottery system. The varied edition of 250 measureS 12.5 x 19 inches and have hand-painted touches, are stained, and have backs that are printed, stamped and embossed. Basquiat’s Ex-Girlfriend Reveals Major Trove of Unseen Works

An interesting collection of works from Jean-Michel Basquiat is about to be made public by his ex-girlfriend Alexis Adler. In 1979, the still unknown artist began painting the walls and door of her East Village home which she smartly preserved until now along with notebooks, postcards, painted clothes, photographs, drawings on yellow legal paper, and other ephemera.
