Openings: Lindsey Carr – “Homage to Canton” @ Thinkspace

Last week, alongside Nagel, Ramirez, and Nehrbass in the main gallery, Lindsey Carr’s newest work graced the walls the Thinkspace’s project room. Showing: Dzine – “The Beautiful Struggle” @ Gestalten Space

Several days ago, Gestalten Space played host to the opening of the first solo exhibition in Berlin by Carlos Rolon, better known as Dzine. The multi-talented Chicago-based artist presented a diverse body of work including photos, screen prints, as well one of his signature blinged-out bicycles of which this exhibition utilized as its centerpiece. Openings: Aaron Nagel, Jeff Ramirez, and Jennifer Nehrbass @ Thinkspace

A couple weeks ago, the Thinkspace Gallery hosted a trio of artists known for their realistic renderings and a new perspective on portraiture. Aaron Nagel brought his edgy nudes, Jeff Ramirez presented some paintings from unique angles as well as some masked characters, and Jennifer Nehrbass contributed some of her narrative-based works. Previews: Eric Haze – “New Mathematics” @ Known Gallery

Set to open alongside Greg Lamarche’s (interviewed) new body of work (previewed) tonight at the Known Gallery are the geometric constructs of NY graffiti legend Eric Haze. Entitled New Mathematics, the collection of originals feature his distinctive lines and shapes that his aesthetic has become synonymous with. Art Focus: Jessica Stewart

This week’s Art Focus is on Melbourne based Jessica Stewart. Releases: Aiko – “Lady Butterfly” Sculpture (Black)

If you remember, we previously reported on the limited edition and intricate Lady Butterfly sculpture (produced by Tomenosuke Sho-ten) from Aiko Nakagawa earlier this year. The initial silver colorway easily sold out on Valentine’s Day, but the newest black version (limited to 10 each) was released just hours ago 1.00pm (JST) on September 16th and retailed for $550 here. Last week in San Francisco, Alex Lukas brought his post-apocalyptic visions to the Guerrero Gallery, featuring submerged metropolis, overgrown skyscrapers, and derelict cities. Utilizing a complex technique on paper that includes ink, acrylic, watercolor, gouache and silk screen, the Philadelphia based artist paints a desolate future where humans may play no part, focusing on the fragility of our modern society. Releases: Glenn Barr – “Episode 9” Print (1xRUN)

Currently available at 1xRUN is this print, Episode 9, from Glenn Barr for $85. If you remember, this image is based on an original from his show at La Luz de Jesus back in June.  It’s sized at 18″ x 22″, signed and numbered, a giclee + silkscreen combo print, and come with a free copy of HEEP, a book dedicated specifically to Barr’s drawings. Streets: Jeff Soto (France)

Jeff Soto (interviewed) is currently in Lyon, France prepping for the  Les Enfants TERRIBLES satellite exhibition during Lyon Biennale week. While there, he is continuing to exercise his renewed love for mural work with this feline piece in a nearby park, which was inspired by a local chat (cat) that was hanging out as well as something for the local kids.
