Preview / Installation: Swoon – “Anthropocene Extinction” @ Boston ICA

After presenting The Big Easy with her stunning Thalassa installation at the New Orleans Museum of Art in June, Swoon (interviewed) is moving on to her next project.  On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) has commissioned the Brooklyn-based artist to create an installation for the Sandra and Gerald Fineberg Art Wall. Preview: Pedro Matos – “Ephemera” @ Shooting Gallery

Portuguese artist Pedro Matos is set to open his first solo show in the United States on September 3rd at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. Videos: Cai Guo-Qiang – “1040M Underground” @ Izolyatsia (Ukraine)

Just this past weekend, Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang opened his newest solo show at Izolyatsia, the  new art center in the industrial city of Donetsk, Ukraine. Entitled 1040M Underground, the new body of work was inspired by the explosive artist’s visit to the coal and salt mines (1040 meters below ground) of Ukraine’s industrial Donbas region. Openings: ROA @ INOPERAbLe (Vienna)

Starting tomorrow, August 29th, Miami collective FriendsWithYou (who just exhibited in New York) will be showing at the Colette in Paris.
