Edoardo Tresoldi for Cathédrale (New York)

Recently in New York, Italian artist Edoardo Tresoldi unveiled a stunning new ceiling installation for Cathédrale restaurant in Moxy East Village hotel. Entitled Fillmore, the large-scale suspended sculpture above the dining area utilizes the Italian artist’s ethereal mesh technique and draws inspiration from the iconic structure of Fillmore East, the legendary Lower East Side concert hall active until 1971 that featured The Doors, Janis Joplin, Elton John, and more. Starting on January 16, a group exhibition curated by Sugarlift and Juxtapoz’s Sasha Bogojev will run for two weeks at High Line Nine in New York. Entitled ME: An Exhibition of Contemporary Self-Portraiture, the show will feature paintings and drawings by 22 international artists as well as guest speakers exploring self-portraiture. Releases: Mobstr x Karborn – “HUH?” Anti Gravity Sculpture

Mobstr (interviewed) and Karborn recently collaborated on an intriguing new sculptural edition (unfortunately sold out). The set combined one of Mobstr’s most recognized reoccuring text based public works and Karborn’s anonymous figures. The HUH? release was in an edition of 10, with each letter measuring approximately 8 x 10 cm and featuring some “anti gravity” effects (seen in video here). ⁣ Discuss Mobstr here.

Basel Week Miami ’19 / Recap: Leandro Erlich – “Order Of Importance”

During Art Basel Week Miami, Leandro Erlich continued his impressive run of mind bending sculptural installations with a new one entitled Order Of Importance. Commissioned by the city of Miami Beach, the site specific intervention right next the ocean from the Argentinian artist featured a traffic jam of 66 life-sized sculptures of cars and trucks, a reflection of the current climate crisis. Last month in New York, DALeast (interviewed) completed a piece for the The L.I.S.A Project NYC that really utilizes to great effect the unique style of mural making that he is known for. Featuring a frenetic amalgamation of kinetic strokes, the wall pops with contrasts between the paint and the brick wall as well as the blue and reds while highlighting the Chinese-born artist’s continued focus on wildlife.
