On February 13th, the day before the official closing of POW! WOW! Hawaii 2015 (more coverage here), one of the main partners of the event, RVCA, organized an interesting show at Modern Honolulu, curated by PM Tenore. The visitors had a chance to see the collection of surfboards that surfing superstar Kelly Slater and RVCA artist Kevin Ancell collaborated on. It looks like Mars-1 & Damon Soule recently collaborated with Smokovich Designs to create some limited edition jewelry for the fashion conscious art fans out there. Dubbed the Furtherrr Collection after the art collective the two Bay Area-based artists are part of, the line features pendants, necklaces, and earrings created based off their artwork and drawings. The UK-based Ben Eine recently released a novel new three-dimensional art object that allows fans to add a unique representation of his typography to their collection. The limited edition cubes come signed and are presented in concrete, metal and wood, measuring 12 x 12 x 12 cm. While visiting the NADA fair (more on that later), we stopped to take a look at the signing session at a special booth from Barry McGee for fans that purchased his limited edition Beats Pill. There is still time for those in town for Basel Week Miami to stop by the Airball installation created by Daniel Arsham of design studio Snarkitecture and the Miami Beach based Alchemist. Open through tomorrow on level 5 of the the Herzog & de Neuron designed parking garage (1111 Lincoln Road), site of another event in 2013, the specially designed basketball arcade-style games are the main attraction along with some goodies for sale.
