Releases: Sam Flores x Upper Playground – Dragon Boy

Sam Flores’ (interviewed) amazing Dragon Boy figure really impressed us when news broke of this collaboration with Upper Playground.  Flores’ took one of the best paintings from his Subliminal Projects show and transformed it into a three piece 10″ toy that was created for UP’s  10th anniversary and produced by The Loyal Subjects.  Limited to 500 pieces, this figure will drop early September but apparently the pre-order is sold out now. More pics after the jump.

Benefit: Camille Rose Garcia “Lil Elorphant” Print

In case you missed their first print with Mark Ryden, Roq La Rue just announced a second charitable print they did with Camille Rose Garcia. Again this is to raise money for David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust so every penny of this amazing print is going towards this great charity which helps endangered elephants and rhinos in Africa. Check out some amazing pics from Kirsten’s recent visit to the Wildlife Trust in Africa. Details of the release and pics from Africa after the jump.

Shepard Fairey x Arkitip – Launch Party & Installation @ ALIFE (Hollywood)

As we previously reported, Arkitip is putting out a special collaboration issue with Shepard Fairey and the release is right around the corner. To celebrate the launch of Issue 51 and all it’s Obey goodies, ALIFE is transforming their Hollywood retail location into a mini-gallery to host the release with Mr. Fairey. A giant 14 x 48 ft. billboard specifically designed by Shepard for the event will be erected directly above the store and the inside of the location itself will be transformed with a site specific installation. In […]

This edition will be limited to 150 pieces and will be priced at $100.  Randomly inserted along with some of the toys will be drawings, gocco prints, and postcard sets for some lucky collectors.  This 5th colorway will be exclusive to LeBasse Projects, where Yoskay will also be closing his solo “Hello and Goodbye” show. In addition to the figure, there will […]

Update: Audrey Kawasaki’s Laser Cut Brooch

A little while back, we gave you a glimpse of a laser cut brooch that was to be released from Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed).  Well, it appears that some were sold at her Space Yui show in Japan and one, much to Audrey’s displeasure, has even made its way onto eBay. What is even more disturbing is the fact that the auction lists the brooch as being sold out when in fact this item is not even limited in edition and will be released for $35 […]

This event is presented in conjunction with Arkitip to coincide with the release of the latest issue (#51) of the magazine (featuring Shepard). As with all issues, a special limited edition “artist contribution” gift will be included with every magazine. Previous special collaborations with numerous high profile artists have quickly sold […]

Viewpoints: Murakami, MOCA & Louis Vuitton Sued by Disgruntled Speculator

Last summer, the MOCA was sued by a disgruntled speculator, Clint Arthur, over the sale of some lithographic prints from Takashi Murakami’s retrospective. Arthur’s initial suit alleged that without proper documentation, the prints were just overpriced posters and the museum was misleading customers. The judge quickly dismissed the charges of fraud in the initial case.  Also, the MOCA has offered Arthur a refund with interest (which he refused, of course) and a certificate of authenticity for all their customers who wanted one. Now, Arthur is […]

Releases: Bronze Pollard – Tim Biskup

Tim Biskup has been teasing his collectors with new images of his 7″ Bronze Pollard on his blog.  We like the new faceted look which mirrors the evolution of style in his paintings.  The figure will be produced with an edition of 44 and will be stamped and initialed on the feet. With his previous bronze release, the 2″ Iki, costing about $300, fans had better start saving now for the June release. More images after the jump.
