Yesterday, AM attended the opening of Yoshitomo Nara’s epic retrospective at New York’s Asia Society. With anticipation building since attending his “Open Studio” session a few weeks prior, we didn’t know what more to expect from Nara and YNG/graf aside from the artwork being created by the artist and the cool construction of the “Home” installation. Preview: Clayton Brothers – “Inside Out” @ Madison Museum of Contemporary Art

As we mentioned last summer, the Clayton Brothers are set to open a fantastic museum show at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) over in Wisconsin this weekend. The brotherly duo will unveil twenty six paintings and three mixed media installations containing their wild color combos and electric characters. Check out a preview  after the jump.

Not only is Jeff Koons opening his newest show in Paris, his pal Murakami will be opening his exhibition in Versailles, just like Koons did in 2008. Preview: Jean-Pierre Roy – “A Rational Spectacle” @ Rare, New York

Brooklyn based artist Jean-Pierre Roy paints classically inspired landscapes fast-forwarded into a post-apocalyptical dystopian vision of the future. His beautifully composed oils have an epic, and almost cinematic quality. Take a look at the video above where JP talks about his work, and how he achieves the level of luminance to his work by starting off with a dark canvas and continually building the composition by adding elements of light.
