Releases: Damien Hirst – “Schizophrenogenesis” Book

Paul Stolper Gallery in London recently announced a must-have release for all the Damien Hirst fans and collectors out there. Today, they released his Schizophrenogenesis book together with Other Criteria, available in both regular and limited edition. The book covers Hirst’s Schizophrenogenesis series which was shown with the gallery back in October of 2014. With this body of work, the British artist examines our faith in science and the pharmaceutical industry through a series of sculptures and prints based on the minimal aesthetic of the medicinal pill. Releases: Jen Stark – “Drippy” Clothing Line

Recently on her webstore, Jen Stark released a small clothing line featuring here “drippy” imagery. For those interested, there are now a men’s t-shirt, women’s crop top, and leggings all featuring the psychedelic drip patterns often seen in her work with a price set at $45, $40, and $55 respectively. Those are bold enough to wear these will certainly drawing attention to their style and at the same time introducing the work of Stark to everyone who sees them. Discuss Jen Stark here.

Openings: Sam Friedman – “LOVE SONGS” @ Library Street Collective

Showing through April 8 at the Library Street Collective in Detroit is an exhibition from Sam Friedman. For LOVE SONGS, the artist from New York has a series of canvases as well as over 30 paintings on paper on display that look back on his exploration of beach scenes and sunsets. Utilizing a variety of techniques that speak to his background, the colorful work continues his deconstruction and revision of natural landscapes, achieved through a balanced mix of abstraction and figurative elements. Showing in associated POW! WOW! Hawaii through the tomorrow at the Honolulu Museum of Art School is the 4th annual Exploring The New Contemporary Movement group exhibition (see 2016 & 2015 & 2014) curated by Thinkspace. Artists were asked to contribute 12 x 12″ pieces leading to a visually conforming display of works. Rounding things out was a showcase for Shok-1 (seen below) and a Homer Simpson x Banksy parody installation by Oak Oak (seen above). Yesterday, Apple announced its 28th annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will kick off on June 5 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose. Art lovers who were paying attention would have seen some familiar imagery used for this year’s event – the work of Geoff McFetridge.
