Art Focus: Jacek Yerka

We recently discovered the work of Jacek Yerka and we can’t get enough of it. The Polish artist’s paintings are filled with surreal visions of a beautiful world filled with landscapes and structures that the viewer wishes could be true because it would just be so damn cool. He cites cites Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel among others as having influenced his work and it’s not hard to see why. Take a look at more images from Yerka after the jump…

Candice Tripp Hand Finished Print & Giveaway

Our friend Candice Tripp (interviewed) has some very special limited prints that she hand touched for sale available here.  There are two different images, each in an edition of 10.  The first is “The Patio” and the second “And One Day Blimp Cat Floated Away”.  Candice took the time to hand embellish each one with metallic paints and other details. Supakitch & Koralie mural @ Varldskultur Museum, Gothenburg

AM friends and super French art duo Supakitch and Koralie were recently in Gothenburg, Sweden, for the set-up and opening of “Kimono Fusion,” an exhibition of Japanese fashion mixed with pop, street and graffiti culture at the Varldskultur (World Culture) Museum. In addition to having work in the show, the two spent a few days creating an amazing mural, documented in the video above. Teaser: Roland Tamayo – “With Ease” @ Gallery 1988 (LA)

Opening tonight, September 30th, at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles will be a new series of seven paintings from Roland Tamayo (interviewed). Showing alongside Ben Strawn in a joint show is entitled “With Ease”, Roland will be showing paintings with his signature nature / technology juxtapositions. Openings: Edwin Ushiro & Yoskay Yamamoto – “Preceding Sunday” and “lost stories and found memories” @ Roq La Rue

Friends and LA-based artists Edwin Ushiro’s (interviewed) and Yoskay Yamamoto (featured) made their way northwest to attend the opening of their latest joint show at the Roq La Rue a couple of weeks ago. Yoskay bought some works on a new medium for him – paper – as well as some sweet wood sculptures all entitled “lost stories and found memories”.
