Preview / Installation: Mike Stilkey “Reminiscent” @ Hurley Space Gallery

The brand spanking new Hurley )( Space Gallery opens its doors this weekend in Costa Mesa, Ca. Long time supporters of the arts, Hurley have appointed Annie Adjchavanich, past director of Billy Shire Fine Arts, as the gallery’s curator. Art HK ’10: Aya Takano

Another artist that we were looking forward to seeing at Art HK 10 was Murakami protege, Aya Takano. The Japanese artist, whose show we also covered in NY, was exhibiting at the Emmanuel Perrotin booth and has been one of the highlights among strong sales at this year’s Hong Kong Internation Art Fair, apparently selling several of her pieces to Chinese and Korean collectors. Preview: Paul Richmond – “Cheesecake” @ Center on Halsted

Next Friday in Chicago, Ohio-based artist Paul Richmond will be opening his show “Cheesecake” at the Center on Halsted. Each painting will depict a gay celebrity caught in a moment of accidental exposure like the classic pin-up art from the 40s and 50s but with the obvious twist. Some of the featured models include Jesse Archer, Perez Hilton, James St. James, Bobbie Burlesque, Dale Levitski, Bobby Trendy, Del Shores, Jack Mackenroth, Ari Gold, and more.
