Baby Tattooville ’09 – Reverse Studio Visits – Audrey Kawasaki

While Greg “Craola” Simkins worked on his painting just a few feet away, AM favorite Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) was busy working on yet another piece for her upcoming show “Hajimari – a prelude” for Jonathan LeVine (teased) later this year. Watching Audrey layer colors and skin tones delicately over an initial sketch on wood was a real treat as well as a great insight to her process. More pictures after the jump.

The late Tsang Tsou Choi, or the self-styled “King of Kowloon”, recently had one of his pieces sell for $65,000 at Sotheby’s (seven times the estimate). We remember learning about this prolific “street artist” during some childhood summers spent in Hong Kong before we even knew what art was, let alone “street art.” It definitely piqued our interest then and has continued to stay in our memories till this day. David Hockney, widely considered to be one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, has made an even bigger splash this week in the art world as it has been revealed that he has created hundreds of unique paintings using the iPhone application Brushes (many of which, interestingly enough, can be found in homes residing in the virtual world of Second Life). Releases: Slinkachu – “The High Life”

The last time we saw Slinkachu, he was busy in a Grottaglie alleyway creating his largest work yet for the FAME Festival (covered).Â Well, looks like the photographer/street artist is back with a new release which he also created in Italy, this time the installation “was placed near the local fly-tipping area and dog pound – the high life indeed!”Â This latest print is available in either small or large formats, through Studiocromie and Andipa Gallery respectively. AM just got back from the opening of Green Day’s “The Art of Rock” show at London’s StolenSpace gallery (previewed), the night before the band starts a run of sold out dates on the UK leg of theÂ 21st Century Breakdown Tour.
