Originally thought to be an April Fool’s joke, United Kingdom street artist D*Face had the last laugh when he released a 20 pound sterling note remixed in his signature 80’s punk and skate inspired style on over ten digital billboards throughout the city in protest of the G-20 London Summit. AM was on hand last night as Newcastle’s notorious Hush (interviewed) made his first Bay Area appearance at Upper Playground’s FIFTY24SF gallery. Following on the heels of his smash Carmichael show in Los Angeles last month (covered), Hush certainly came correct for his second solo showing stateside. It’s currently 7:15 pm in Sydney, Australia at the MTV Gallery where Ian Francis’ new exhibition (previewed) has just opened it’s doors to numerous excited Aussies ‘Down Unda.’ Since most of the world may not be able to attend the pop-up Semi-Permanent exhibition as our friends in the southern hemisphere, AM thought it would be nice to share an online viewing of Ian’s latest body of work. Here is the first photo we have seen of Mark Ryden’s first ever toy – YHWH.Â The figure is titled after one of his paintings (seen after the jump) and also cleverly posed with a little girl as in the painting.Â Not sure what it is meant to be but one definition of YHWH is the God of the Old Testament as transliterated from Hebrew consonants.Â Perhaps it’s Ryden’s vision of the Almighty, at least in the world of his paintings.
