Our final gift to you comes from the NYC art duo Skewville. Known for their hanging wooden shoes, it looks like they hung up something different this time above the cleverly incorporated door for this street piece. More Christmas greetings come from street miniature photographer Slinkachu. This piece in London entitled Maz + Joe is a twist on the usual story this time of year with Mary riding something other than a Donkey, but it looks like all the places to sleep are still full. The giant in the comic book world is supposed to be exhibiting along with frequent collaborator and one of AM’s favorites Jeremy Geddes (interviewed) at Jonathan LeVine in 2012. Check out this new Christmas themed painting Melissa Haslam’s (featured) did for the launch of the Curvy 2010 book in Sydney. The piece will be on display at The Galeries along with work from Courtney Brims, Noferin, Fafi, Amandine Urruty, Genevieve Gauckler, Rilla Alexander, Irina Dakeva and Kaitlin Beckett until January 8th. You can get a glimpse of some of the action in this album on his facebook and you can also see the dated and labeled Toby’s in our studio visit here. Marilyn Minter, who we just saw at the opening of the Youtube Biennial at the Guggenheim where she was a judge, recently released a 58 x 48 inch vinyl diecut Christmas tree wall-sticker. The Merry Merry Tree kit features some of Minter’s own eclectic collection of shiny ornaments with the topping star using some of her more classic photo-imagery (seen in detail after the jump). We’ll start off our series of Christmas greetings this year with this offering from Ron English (featured). Take a look at this “Camo Deer” that we first saw for the Art From The New World group show, then realized in sculptural form at the Status Factory show in NY, and more recently at his Wynwood Walls mural in Miami. Earlier this month at the Eleanor Harwood Gallery in San Francisco, Keven E. Taylor put on a show within a show in a sense as he rendered various animals, birds, and fish on display inside his paintings at what looks to be a museum. Disclocated examines concepts of isolation, exhibition and preservation with the subjects removed from their natural state and frozen in a moment of time and forces the viewer to consider if this is the future of our companions on this earth.
