Streets: Os Gemeos (Lithuania)

Sounds like the Os Gemeos brothers made a trip to Northern Europe recently to trace their ancestry. Their grandfather was originally from Lithuania before immigrating to Brazil and you can read the full story on their most recent blog post. Nice to see things come full circle as they left their mark in Vilnius and Kaunas. A couple more images after the jump…

Streets: Banksy in Basque

With “Exit Through the Gift Shop” premiering in Basque Country at the International Film Festival of San Sebastian, it’s not surprising that Banksy fans were keeping their eyes out for stencils from the elusive street artist. Well, looks like one popped up with a man staring a randomly framed section of a painted wall, probably Mr. B’s poke at abstract art. If the man in this image looks familiar, you may remember him from Toronto. So, all signs point to this as being a Banksy […]

Teasers: Hush – “Distant Portrait Series” @ Shooting Gallery NYC Pop-Up

We recently gave you a look at the latest batch of work that Hush (interviewed) has been working on. This series named “Distant Portraits” focuses more on the intent and emotions of his mysterious Geishas in the urban environment. Our question was where is it going to be shown at? We’re happy to announce that New York will be the next stop in Hush’s tour. After shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Hush will finally be landing in the Big Apple for a pop-up gallery show presented […]

BLK River Festival ‘ 10: Sam3

After sharing Know Hope’s amazing mural with you from the Vienna street art festival, we now bring you an eclectic collection of Sam3’s contributions. The Spanish silhouette master painted many of his increasingly complex pieces all over town as this year’s BLK River Festival is now in full effect. More images after the jump…

Fame Fest ’10: Erica Il Cane

With the opening of the Fame Festival set for this Saturday night, Erica Il Cane squeezed in two last murals in Grottaglie. The Bologna-based artist’s murals are straight from fairy tales with the feel of old-school illustrations found in antique books, but in wonderful large scale. Take a look at another piece – “the frog prince” – after the jump as well as a video of his unusual technique of handpainted his screenprints.

Teaser: El Mac – “The Humble and Sublime” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

After an extensive tour around the world, with sweet murals dropped on every location, it seems that El Mac has settled down to work on a new body of indoor work. “The Humble and Sublime” will open October 14th at the Joshua Liner Gallery and will be his first show in New York. Take a look at more photos of him preparing for the show in his studio after the jump…

BLK River Festival ’10: Know Hope

Know Hope (interviewed), whose upcoming show in Toronto we just told you about yesterday, recently found some time again this year for the annual BLK River Festival (you may remember our coverage from last year). This beautiful mural featuring much of the Tel Aviv street artist’s signature imagery is entitled “For the Homeless Heart and Anxious Fingers” and is positioned directly opposite of a former Jewish ghetto in the second district of Vienna. The festival is still ongoing so make sure you check it out […]

Retna x Prism Gallery

It must be nice to have connections. Prism, a spacious gallery built directly on the sunset strip and also an architectural marvel, recently had it’s windows blessed by the street calligraphy of Retna. Hopefully, the work will still be up for the opening on Friday night of the “Misericordia” group show we previewed for you the other day. So, those how missed out on Retna’s immersive solo show at Rivera & Rivera (covered) should definitely check this one out. More images after the jump…

Openings: Shepard Fairey – “Printed Matters” @ Subliminal Projects

Subliminal Projects opened their doors a week ago with a show featuring the work of their head honcho, Shepard Fairey. “Printed Matters” was just that, a collection of some of Shep’s favorite images printed on wood, metal, album covers, and collage. The packed house was also treated to the “Beyond The Street” LA Book Launch with many other street artists and notables in attendance. More opening images after the jump…
