Creative Process: Banksy x Simpsons Intro Animation

Banksy recently gave us an inside look behind how he created and directed the incredible animated intro for the Simpsons episode that aired last fall. The storyboard sketch details an acerbic wit that may have been sharper than FOX would have liked: Take for example the Rupert Murdoch portrait hidden behind the t-shirt scene or the skeletal dipping of the animation cel into the toxic drums. Streets: Sweet Toof stops the press in London

Looks like Sweet Toof has been re-appropriating an undisclosed number of Metro newspapers in an interventionist culture-jamming caper. Sweet Toof has got his teef into the front, back and centrefold pages of the paper, so check today’s ‘free-press’ at underground tube stations throughout London and try and find a copy for yourself ahead of Sweet Toof’s exhibition opening tonight. Having A Dig opens at Arch 402 Gallery, Cremer Street, London E2 tonight, and runs until 3rd February. Discuss Sweet Toof here.

Continuing on from our look into Steve More’s Edinburgh studio, AM now brings you a peek into the bottom-of-the-garden studio of Remi/Rough. Streets: Christiaan Nagel (London)

We came across these sculptural street pieces recently from Christiaan Nagel placed last year scattered around on the East End in London. The colorful mushrooms are made from polyurethane, fiber glass, and stainless steel and are placed on top of buildings and roofs. Not sure if these are an ongoing series from the artist but we kinda hope it is. More photos via Street Art London after the jump…

Brooklyn based artists and constant collaborators (see Deluxx Fluxx Arcade), Faile and Bäst, recently worked together on this industrial doorway in Brooklyn. A welcome sight in snowy New York for street art fans as the cold season cuts down on the amount of new work this time of year. In anticipation of his upcoming two person exhibition with Remi/Rough, AM brings you a view from the studio of Edinburgh based artist Steve More. More’s heritage as a graffiti writer dates back to the mid 80’s when his elaborately styled letter based pieces started to go up under the name of OneMor. On occasion of his inclusion in Spoke Art’s Urban Osmosis exhibition (which we previewed last week), the Los Angeles-based Shark Toof made the much-traveled trek north to the Bay Area. Streets: ROA (Salten Sea)

It look like while ROA was in Los Angeles for his pop-up show (covered), he found time to take a little detour to the Salten Sea. While there, the Belgium artist painted a fish in his signature style to mark his passage. It certainly is a telling piece as the fertilizer runoff combined with the increasing salinity is certainly threatening the survival much of the fish species there.
