Haven’t heard from Gaia in while ever since hanging out a little at Art Basel Miami last year, but it looks like he’s participating in two shows in the next couple weeks. First up is a solo at Gallery Heist opening tomorrow night in SF (of which there are some preview pics after the jump). If we were privy to Banksy’s flight itinerary the last several months, this is what we might have seen: UK – Utah – UK -> LA -> SF -> Chicago -> Detroit -> Toronto -> Boston or some combination thereof (strange that he skipped NY). After a three year self-imposed hiatus from gallery shows (save a few group show contributions), Blaine Fontana made a comeback last weekend to the gallery scene with his solo show “The Golden Record” at Lebasse Projects in Los Angeles (our pics from the opening here). The London book launch for Gestalten’s “Beyond the Street: The 100 Leading Figures in Urban Art” took place on Friday last week at Phillips de Pury’s Victoria headquarters to a healthy crowd and with a celebratory vibe. Many of the book’s contributors joined the editors of the book, Patrick Nguyen and Stuart Mackenzie, to toast the success of just how well this mammoth publication turned out. After throwing the best premiere party for his documentary in Los Angeles and gifting San Francisco with the most street pieces, Banksy appears to have been taking a whirlwind tour of other major North American cities. Either he’s been racking up some pretty major frequent fliers mileage or he has a crew out assisting him (or there are some copycats out there). Streets: EINE in Japan

It looks like UK street artist EINE was over in Japan for a show at Gallery 503 recently. Apparently, he had a lot of time to throw up some pieces in the street, mainly due to getting stranded because of the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland. Eine ended up painting 22 shutters and walls, though it looks like he only used the English alphabet for his fans in Tokyo… Take a look at more images after the jump.
