In preparation for his upcoming show at Eli Klein Fine Art, Beijing-based artist Liu Bolin was in town to once again hit up New York. We haven’t heard much from Monsieur Invader since he served up space waffles at a showing in London (covered) back in December. It seem though that the street tile specialist has been busy putting in work in Brussels recently plastering the walls with his pieces. As usual, he put a little local flavor into this invasion with references to the famous peeing statue that is a symbol for the city as well as some use of the Belgium colors. As always, AM has more street work to share with you in this week’s Streets: World Roundup segment. Leading things off is this sweet new piece from Zilda (interviewed) in Naples that benefits from a great placement integrating a tree (the extra phallic graf helps keep things interesting as well). As always, the thoughtful French street artist draws his own pieces which are often influenced by classic master paintings (like the work of John Spencer-Stanhope Rodham) and translates them into paste ups. The latest mural by Bumblebee, part of his ongoing series highlighting the plight of children affected by homelessness, has gone up in Los Angeles. Titled Somewhere I’d Rather Bee, it ostensibly depicts a boy playing in the streets, appearing to lounge away the day, just playing with his paper airplane. Last time we saw El Mac and Augustine Kofie (featured) collaborating, they were working on a mural in honor of DASH 2000 (covered), a former member of the UTI (Under The Influence) graffiti crew, who recently passed away due to cancer complications. Now, we finally have a look at the finished wall which now includes lettering and a final inscription by artist Plek, which overall creates a fitting memorial for their friend. As you saw in our first teaser article, Mark Jenkins (interviewed) has been busy in Rome working the streets and preparing for his show at Wunderkammern opening this Saturday night, March 17th. As a way to pay tribute to those who have passed, artist often paint murals in remembrance of their friends who have fallen along the way. After a recent fitting piece in collaboration with Augustine Kofie (featured) to remember DASH 2000, a former member of the UTI (Under The Influence) graffiti crew, El Mac has now painted one for Marcos “Verse” Vasquez in Mid-City, Los Angeles. Streets: ROA (Belgium)

Sometimes it’s hard to remember that busy international traveler and prolific street muralist ROA is from Belgium based on so many of his works popping up around the world (most recently in Stockholm). We can finally show you something painted in his home country (for the the generically named Street Art Festival) with again some nice incorporation of architectural elements into the piece (windows used as the perch). Streets: Retna Mural on Bowery & Houston (Part II)

After spending some time with LA artist RETNA (featured) as he put his mark on the iconic Bowery & Houston wall in New York (covered here), AM headed back to see the finishing touches. As you can see, the MSK writer’s calligraphy is getting increasingly complex and is undecipherable for those who aren’t in the know.
