Streets: Peanuts Global Artist Collective (New York)

As mentioned in our introduction to the Peanuts Global Artist Collective earlier this month, murals featuring the work of some of the participating artists were unveiled in New York. Painted on the side of downtown office buildings on the West Side near Hudson Square, imagery inspired by Charles M. Last week, we gave you a taste of the art going down at this year’s The Crystal Ship art festival (also see 2016 & 2017) with photos of sweet new mural from Sainer. Streets: Escif – ‘Open Borders’ Mural @ Palais de Tokyo (Paris)

From May 4th, Palais de Tokyo in Paris will pay tribute to the history and legacy of the May 1968 events with a intervention by Escif, where he reproduced some of the famous writings from that period of student revolts. His creation completes the project, which was started in 2015 by Greek artist Stelios Faitakis, who realized two murals dedicated to the legacy of the situationist movement and civil unrest of May 1968. Streets: D*Face – “Turn Coat” (Paris)

While in town last week for the opening of his show (covered) at Galerie Itinerrance, D*Face (interviewed) was able to get up with a massive mural in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. For those keeping score, this is the second piece (also see 2017) the British street artist has painted for “Street Art 13” project organized by the gallery. Entitled Turn Coat, the new work features some of D’s signature imagery and touches like the Lichtenstein inspired look and the wings. Photo credit: Spraying Bricks. Discuss D*Face here.

Earlier this month in Belgium, the third iteration of the The Crystal Ship art festival (also see 2016 & 2017) welcomed in an international roster of artists to create murals and art installations in the coastal city of Ostend. One of the standout walls comes from Sainer (featured) of the Etam Cru entitled Podkarpacie, a painterly piece which appears to be named after a province in Poland. Following up on our sharing of murals, interventions, and print releases related to the Splash And Burn initiative (started by artist Ernest Zacharevic) in Sumatra, we now have photos of the latest mural completed Vhils. Nuart Aberdeen officially started on the 12th of April with a media reception held in front of large, sun basked mural-to-be by Ernest Zacharevic. A couple months ago, the 2018 edition of the POW! WOW! Hawaii was held on the island of Oahu, a week long annual event that celebrates culture, music and art. Streets: Pejac – (New York) – Part II

After sharing one of the pieces yesterday that Pejac painted while in New York recently, we now have photos of the other brilliant piece he created in Bushwick (27 Scott Ave). Entitled Fossil, the mural really shows off the skills of the Spanish artist in creating optical illusions.
