After revealing a new piece last month with strong placement from Invader in Paris, our Streets World Roundup feature returns with another piece playing with some nostalgic characters from childhood for most of us. Streets: Zezão for The Canals Project (London)

Local and international street artists have been invited by The Legacy List recently to create public works along along East London canals. The roster includes artists Mark Lyken (Scotland), Teo Moneyless (Italy), Zezão (Brazil), Remed (Spain), Ekta Ekta (Sweden), and Interesni Kazki (Ukraine). Curated by Cedar Levisham, the artworks will be installed during summer 2013 and should reflect the location and history of the canals in a variety of innovative ways. Australian artist Anthony Lister recently arrived in Los Angeles to paint a new large scale mural at the offices of the theAudience. As we shared with you a couple of weeks ago, Spanish artist Aryz has a show currently at Fifty24SF (covered). While in town, he has also started doing what he does best – getting up big on the streets of whatever city he is visiting. With the support of the gallery, WallSpaceSF, and Upper Playground, the young painter has been working on a large portrait located on Polk and Eddy Street. Streets: Blu (Italy)

The recently dormant Blu has woken up with a series of murals in Southern Italy protesting the the construction of a Mobile User Objective System, an array of satellites being developed for the United States Department of Defense. Although unproven, the local people believe that their are health risks of long-term exposure to the high-power transmissions and have mounted major protests against the station being bulit there. Over the weekend, artist David Flores finished a new mural at the new creative campus named “The Reserve L.A.” which is the new home of the Microsoft and TMZ offices. This artistic project for The Reserve is part of several murals that Branded Arts was brought in to organize and curate. Using a photograph of Albert Einstein as his source, Flores created a mural that’s actually made up of two layers, giving it a three-dimensional look. In preparation for their joint show opening on May 7th at the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery, JR and José Parlá worked on a mural together in Chelsea over the weekend. The piece is a followup to the epic series of walls they collaborated on in Cuba last year (covered) and will be the subject of their exhibition – The Wrinkles of the City, Havana, Cuba.
