Jeff Koons Rabbit in Covent Garden (London)

Apparently, a 53-foot inflatable rabbit found shelter inside London’s Covent Garden for a little while. Courtesy of one of the biggest Pop artists working today, Jeff Koons, the familiar rabbit is part of the Tate Modern’s current exhibition “Pop Life: Art in a Material World.” It is a floating replica of a figure that was produced in stainless steel in 1986.  That sculpture is currently on display at the Tate. More pictures after the jump…

Openings: Swoon & Ben Wolf – “Squinches and Pendentives” @ Urban Art Info

Fresh off their stint from Norway at this year Nuart Festival (covered), Swoon (Interviewed) and Ben Wolf stopped off in Berlin for a show at Urban Art Info Gallery. The show “Squinches and Pendentives” was held in UAI’s large gallery space which allowed the artists to really showcase their styles. The space allowed Ben to build his impressive and self reflective installations/sculptures. Swoon also did her part and effortlessly integrated her always touching figures into Ben’s complex urban-themed installation. It was a fun night as […]

Preview: Michael Lau – “Gardener 10th” @ De La Barracuda

When one thinks of Michael Lau, one thinks of the “godfather of vinyl” or the originator of the “art toy.”  Without his innovation and hard work long ago, we would not have many of the art-related figures and projects we cover and collect from artists we love today.  His epic show “Gardener 10th” opening at De La Barracuda tonight not only chronicles the 10 year history of his “Gardener” line but will also have much of the related artwork and sketches on display (and of […]

A pretty major exhibition, “Pop Life,” is opening this week (October 1st) at the Tate Modern. The exhibition will take Andy Warhol’s famous quote “good business is the best art” as its slogan and re-examine how Warhol and legacy of “Pop Art” has influenced artists in the ways they harnass mass media to promote and create an image for themselves. Among the artists represented will be Tracey Emin, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst (video of his search for identical twins for this exhibition after the jump), […]

Here’s a little behind the scenes look into JR’s preparation for his latest project: “Women Are Heroes” which is already in progress as he “re-does” structures in Paris in his signature bold fashion. This new project which officially opens Oct 3rd will coincide with the art festival Nuit Blanche in Paris (“All Nighter” in French) – an annual cultural event where all the museums and art spaces are open during one night and artists redecorate the city. It’s amazing to see the scale that JR […]

On Friday, AM had the pleasure of attending the private viewing of D*Face’s debut U.S. solo show at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Opening alongside of Mark Dean Veca (more on that later), there were plenty of peers in attendance – Kaws, Stash, Eric Haze, to name a few. […]
