On the first of October, the Carmichael Gallery will welcome father and son duo, Eriberto and Estevan Oriol, to Culver City for an exhibition together. Entitled appropriately Like Father, Like Son, the retrospective survey will comprise of twenty-five limited edition prints from each photographer, including black and white, color, silver gelatin and digital c-prints. AM recently attended the star studded charity art show Made In Polaroid held at Phillips de Pury. The benefit was a one night auction that featured 50 works created by the 50-50-50 project using Polaroid’s mobile printer. All proceeds went to support Free Arts NYC. Several days ago, Gestalten Space played host to the opening of the first solo exhibition in Berlin by Carlos Rolon, better known as Dzine. The multi-talented Chicago-based artist presented a diverse body of work including photos, screen prints, as well one of his signature blinged-out bicycles of which this exhibition utilized as its centerpiece. Streets: Mentalgassi for Getxo Photo 2011 (Spain)

For this fifth edition of the festival dedicated to photography, GETXOPHOTO, that takes place in Spain, Berlin collective Mentalgassi decided to create four spherical portraits and float them in the sea. Known for creatively wheatpasting over existing urban objects, this time they decided to take control of the entire process to produce these “elderly swimmers.” Take a look at more photos as well as video from Fermin Aio and Aitor Gisasola after the jump…

During this past weekend, the Kopeikin Gallery hosted a show which featured music artist and electronic pioneer Moby. The event was actually a book signing also that displayed a collection of the artist’s photography taken during his travels and concerts around the world. The show is held in Human Imagination’s latest Honolulu space that functions as both a gallery space and showroom.
