Painter Candice Tripp has been working on the image for her next print release. As you can see, this screenprint will be generous in size and will include a subset of hand-finished editions. It will be produced through Black Rat Projects, where the UK-based artist will have a solo showing in June. She has also been working on some illustrations for a story written by Gogol Bordello. Take a peek after the jump…

Coming up on the ides of March, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will signing her new book, Snow White (Published by Harper Design, on sale starting February 28, 2012), at the Michael Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles. Handling this fairytale with the same loving care as she did with her Alice in the Wonderland publication, she once again brings new characters into her world, visually translating them with her special imagery and infusing some of the darker elements of the Grimm Brothers’ classic back into the fold. [...]

Publications: Scott Campell – “If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long” Signed Edition

As we mentioned last year, Scott Campbell’s first book, If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long, is now fully baked and ready for consumption. Published by Rizzoli and OHWOW, the hardcover monograph chronicles the origins of, parallels between, and indelible influence of his tattoo work and his fine art, with his cut-currency sculptures already making headlines again this year during showings in both Zurich and Singapore last month. The comprehensive 208-page publication is as rich in imagery as it is insightful in commentary, including a series of salient [...]

Releases: Garage Magazine #2

Last year, Garage Magazine made a splash with its inaugural issue featuring a butterfly labia tattoo designed by Damien Hirst. For its second issue that hits the stands on February 20th, editor Dasha Zhukova took a subtler approach with a Norman Rockwell-esque style that may remind readers of the Saturday Evening Post. Upon closer look, one will observe a more subtle re-work based on Yayoi Kusama’s staged happening entitled Homosexual Wedding. Also included in this issue are articles on artists such as Clare Rojas, Adrian [...]

Signings: James Jean – “Rebus” @ Nucleus Gallery

Continuing his whirlwind books signing tour, James Jean (featured) will be at the Nucleus Gallery this Saturday, January 14th (6-9pm) in Southern California. Spots he has already hit up that we had the chance to attend include Reed Space in NYC and the LACMA, where we walked away impressed with the beautiful reproduction of his paintings from the Rebus show at Martha Otero’s in the 240 page publication. See you tomorrow night. Discuss James Jean here.

For those who were as enamored as we were with Walton Ford’s new King Kong-inspired work at a recent show in New York (covered), you may want to pick up the most recent copy of Whitewall Magazine. Not only does it feature multiple covers and a studio visit with KAWS, the winter issue also has photos of Ford in-studio as well as an interview. WK Interact for Wired Magazine

Last week we shared with you some hardcore works that WK Interact put up in Paris in conjunction with the “Occupy Movements” occurring around the globe. Now we can show you the “would have been” cover for this month’s Wired Magazine. Unfortunately, WK informed us that Wired change their minds on the cover, but the good news is that this artwork and more by the NY-based artist are still displayed inside a “Riot” spread in the magazine. So go out to your newsstand and cop a [...]

Events: Tauba Auerbach – “[2,3]” Book Launch Party @ Printed Matter

We recently attended a party at New York’s Printed Matter to celebrate the long-awaited release of Tauba Auerbach’s [2,3]. The small, artist-book shop was filled to capacity that night with people eager to pick up their pre-ordered copies, those curious to see the final product for themselves and others just wanting to wish the artist congratulations on a job well done. The party included a lovely performance by singer/musician Glasser, for whom Auerbach designed the cover of her album, Ring. Over two years in production, [...]

Shepard Fairey Cover: Time Person of the Year – The Protester

Shepard Fairey (featured) has designed the latest cover of TIME magazine for their Person of the Year issue which this year honors the “Protester”. If you remember, Mr. Obey also created the cover for the 2008 rendition where the annual award went to President Obama. The choice for this year is certainly a representation of world events from Arab Spring to Occupy Wall Street, activism has hit an all-time high in recent memory and who better to commemorate this than an artist who is a [...]
