Streets: Lukasz Berger aka Cekas (Lodz, Poland)

Lukasz Berger aka CekasOne was recently invited by Lodz Murals to add his contribution to their impressive collection of public installations and murals around the city. After following after works by such world renowned artists such as Os Gemeos, Aryz, Dal East, Alexis Diaz, Borondo and many more, the Polish artist took a fresh, completely different approach to creating his piece. Instead of choosing from a selection of available walls, Berger had a firm concept and the form of the wall he was looking for. The […]

Openings: Ron English – “NeoNature” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Over the weekend, Corey Helford Gallery christened their new space in Downtown LA with a solo from Ron English (featured) that has been two years in the making. Entitled NeoNature, the new body of work features an imaginative menagerie of strange creatures and different evolutionary paths mixed in with some pop culture references. Basel Week Miami ’15: Art Basel (Part 2)

Contrary to popular belief, Basel Week Miami isn’t just about walking around buying art from your favorite gallery or dealer. It is also a time for the general public to find inspiration from the vast assortment of quality art being displayed. Every year, the main Art Basel Miami Beach fair does a great job of serving as a “pop-up” museum for the week as over 70,000 people walk through the fair to catch legends of the past and legends in the making for the art world. It doesn’t matter […]

Basel Week Miami ’15: Art Basel (Part 1)

During the start of Basel Week Miami, we gave you an early first look during the VIP session of the Art Basel Miami Beach fair. The first day (as in years past) was the proverbial “running of the bulls” for many of the world’s elite collectors as they stormed the ginormous floor of the Miami convention center in search of artwork to add to their collections. Blue-chip galleries displayed 2015’s treasures by artists such as Andy Warhol, Kaws, Alex Israel, Tal R, Alex Katz, Josh Smith, Yoshitomo Nara, Ai […]

Openings: “Charismatic Megafauna” @ Roq La Rue

Charismatic Megafauna opened at Roq La Rue earlier this month to a packed house. Celebrating the vast diversity of the animal kingdom, the exhibition features a wide variety of creatures, some recognizable, while others are not from this world. That diversity extends itself to the artists included in the show with a plethora of styles and mediums on display, from traditional paintings, life sized creations, and even a mesmerizing illuminated wall-hung sculpture. Charismatic Megafauna will be on display until January 30th with work from Adam […]

Basel Week Miami ’15: Art Basel Miami Beach // Nova Sector

The Art Basel fair is known for presenting the best of the best in established blue chip international art. It is also a place where collectors, curators, and enthusiasts can also discover new artists as well. The Nova sector of the fair is designed for galleries to present one, two or three artists showing works created within the last three years. It features strong associations and fresh, never-before-seen pieces from the artist’s studio to each gallery’s booths. Galleries and artists exhibiting in this sector include Michael Jon […]

Basel Week Miami ’15: Art Basel Miami Beach // Positions Sector

One of the biggest criticisms of art fairs leveled by art lovers is that it is not the proper venue for properly conceived and realized artist exhibitions. Fair booths typically contain a collection of discrete works that are made to be sold and consumed. Art Basel Miami Beach’s Positions sector is the response to this criticism. The galleries that show in this part of the fair are given a platform for a single artist to present one major project. This includes installations or exhibitions that include multiple works […]

Releases: Bom.K – “Fight For Love” Bronze Sculpture

After successfully releasing his Aérotik Pink Malpa and Aérotik Black Malpa resin sculptures back in February (featured), Bom.K has another sculptural edition to offer. Fight For Love consists of a modified brass knuckle and its base, both casted in  zamak and bronze with a hand finished process that gives them a raw, wornout feel. Knuckles have been popularly used as a defense tool for centuries, and are global symbol of direct fight and raw power used by many groups and organizations that promote aggressive behavior. They are originally designed to as an effective strike […]
